The gods are in our favour: Siddharth Shaw on being an 'outsider'
India, June 10 -- Actor Siddharth Shaw, still basking in the success of web show Chiraiya, recently visited his hometown, Delhi. He grew up in Lajpat Nagar and graduated in 2020 from Delhi University's Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. We caught up with him for a fun chat at Khan Market, where the 27-year-old told us all about his love for Dilli ka khaana!
Speaking about living out his childhood dream of being on the big screen, Shaw says, "Being an outsider makes it tougher to reach the audience, while coming from a film family gives you leverage. But at the end of the day, if the audience does not accept you, there is no way you will get work."
The actor, known for Love Aaj Kal (2019) and Do Gubbare, wears the "outsider" tag as "a blessing": "There is such a strong nepo bias out there today that people have this cancel culture against individuals from the film fraternity already. Whatever we 'outsiders' are doing is fresh because the audience doesn't have a point of comparison to our parents. The gods are in our favour today!"...
