India, July 18 -- Homes often feel damp, darker and stuffier during the monsoon because high humidity slows the evaporation of moisture while overcast skies reduce natural light. The resulting moisture buildup can also cause musty odours if ventilation is poor.
As changing seasons affect wardrobes and health, they also bring challenges indoors. Kirti Madan, creative design director at a real estate firm, shares practical ways to make homes more comfortable during the rainy season.
Highlighting a shift in residential design, she says, "In residential projects, it is often observed that homes with better natural ventilation feel noticeably different during the rainy season. They dry faster, smell fresher and remain more comfortable even when windows have to stay shut for some part of the day. This is one reason ventilation has become a much bigger design priority than it was a decade ago."
