I was starstruck: Ranabaali director on casting Arnold Vosloo
India, June 24 -- Actor Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming film Ranabaali has already generated excitement with Arnold Vosloo, known for his role in The Mummy (1999), joining the cast as the antagonist. Speaking to us, director Rahul Sankrityan admits he was "starstruck" when he first met the Hollywood actor.
"It was definitely a moment of being starstruck for me... We have watched his films for so long, and I hope that sentiment resonates with film lovers as well," says Rahul.

Explaining the casting process, the filmmaker adds, "We knew we wanted a strong Hollywood actor for this part. We were keen on Arnold as The Mummy enjoys immense popularity in India and brings a strong nostalgia factor."
The actor spent nearly six months in India, from the latter half of 2025 to early 2026, filming largely in Hyderabad and exploring the city during breaks.
"Arnold had some friends in Hyderabad and in between schedules he would explore the city. He loved the climate of the city and visited so many local temples there," shares Rahul.
Rahul is particularly excited about the film's ending, featuring a major showdown between Arnold and Vijay. "The climax scene is the highlight of the film. It took us 16 days to shoot, and the drama and chemistry in that sequence are crazy... It is a hero vs the devil kind of vibe," he says....
