India, Oct. 12 -- Actor Vikram Singh believes Hindi cinema has often romanticised toxic behaviour rather than calling it out. His latest film, Pooja Meri Jaan, co-starring Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi, explores stalking and male conditioning through his character Aniket, whose obsession with a woman turns into stalking. Vikram believes the subject holds extreme relevance today. "Cinema has often ended up celebrating toxicity, but the films that actually expose it are rare. A film like ours starts a much-needed conversation. By the end, viewers realised how deeply ingrained Aniket's poor conditioning was," he shares. However, he feels relieved that the audience received Aniket quite well. The 37-year-old says, "Aniket wasn't just a regular, one-note stalker and when you play a character who is part positive, part negative, you wonder how it will land. I was excited to see how people would react. So many people came up to me saying they were genuinely confused at how to feel for Aniket. They sympathised with him, hated him, thought 'Yeh banda kitna creep hai', and even loved him at some points." Pooja Meri Jaan might have had to wait about four years to get a release, but Vikram is happy that the film is finally getting the love it deserved. "All's well that ends well," he says, praising his co-stars from the film. "Vijay Raaz sir operates with such ease, he seamlessly switches into character. It's incredible to watch. With Mrunal, she was the one who broke the ice between us. Since we were staying at the same hotel, she'd invite me over to rehearse lines. We worked out together, played squash, and did script readings. That comfort level naturally translated into our on-screen chemistry," he ends....
