Balcony ceiling collapses in Gr Noida society; video sparks safety concerns
India, April 11 -- In a terrifying moment sparking serious safety concerns in rented accommodations, an Instagram user alleged that her balcony's ceiling collapsed in the wee hours of the night.
Sonam Singh, a resident of Greater Noida, can be heard saying in Hindi, "The rent of this flat is Rs.28,000, and the property is valued at Rs.1 crore. And look at what they are giving us in the name of quality construction."
The Reel, which has clocked nearly 30K views since being posted on Wednesday, shows visuals of the plaster and ceiling debris which allegedly collapsed suddenly at 2am.
Showing how the debris was breaking apart with her bare hands, Singh added, "Concrete ko dekho, haath se hi toot jaa raha hai. Ye hai construction yahan ka? Agar mai yahan raat ko khadi hoti toh? Is this safe? Ye de rahe hain 1 crore mein?"
The video has sparked widespread discussion online about construction standards and tenant safety in high-rent flats in the city, with several commenters expressing shock and concern over the apparent poor construction.
Many questioned how such a collapse could happen in a flat valued at 1 crore, while others shared similar experiences from their own apartments.
A few users also reacted with humour, joking about the "luxury" of paying Rs.28k for a flat where the concrete breaks by hand. "Mistry cement lagana bhul gya hai (sic)," a user joked, as another commented, "1 crore k flat me 10 rupee ka nimbu mirchi laga lo kirpa ani shuru hojayegi (sic)."
A third user commented, "Was very risky, man! God saved you." Another added, "Muskuraye, aap Greater Noida mai hai," another user commented. htc...
