India needs flexible AI and cybersecurity rules, says NITI Aayog member
India, Oct. 5 -- NITI Aayog Member Rajiv Gauba has called for a shift towards lighter, risk-based regulation of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and digital technologies, arguing that regulatory frameworks need to keep pace with technological change without restricting innovation, competition and investment.
Speaking at the fifth Kautilya Economic Conclave recently, Gauba said technological developments were advancing faster than many institutions and regulatory frameworks could adapt. He called for regulatory requirements to be proportionate to the nature and potential consequences of the risks involved.
