New Delhi, Aug. 12 -- Astrotalk, an online astrology platform that counts New York-based venture capital firm Left Lane Capital and Indian growth-stage investor Elev8 Venture Partners as its backers, has made its entry into the coveted unicorn club post a share buyback.
The Noida-headquartered company has concluded an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) led buyback that involved over 100 employees and valued the company at $1 billion (around Rs 9,541 crore). The buyback, financed through the company's internal accruals, provided eligible employees an opportunity to unlock liquidity, Astrotalk said.
With this, the company's valuation has jumped by nearly 4x from its last fundraising round in June 2024, when it raised around Rs 117 crore at a pre-money valuation of Rs 2,400 crore.
"This buyback reflects our belief that great companies are built when teams think and act like owners," said Anmol Jain, Co-founder, Astrotalk.
Astrotalk is the eighth Indian startup this year to turn a unicorn after Juspay, Neysa, KreditBee, Skyroot Aerospace, Square Yards, Saravam AI and Emergent.
The startup, founded in 2017, operates as a marketplace connecting consumers to astrologers for horoscope readings, birth chart analysis, tarot readings, numerology services and Vastu consultations. It also sells spiritual products such as gemstones and remedial articles.
Over the years, it has also expanded its presence beyond services into adjacent spiritual and commerce categories. The astrology and spiritual services platform recorded consolidated revenue from operations of Rs 1,176.4 crore in FY25, up 83% from Rs 643.4 crore in FY24, VCCircle reported previously. It said it has crossed Rs 2,500 crore in annual revenue in FY26, but did not share details.
The company said it is now focused on strengthening its leadership in the spiritual-tech category, expanding its global footprint and investing in technology and talent.
