India, June 22 -- Ramiro Valdes, one of Fidel Castro's earliest allies and a key figure in the Cuban Revolution, has died at the age of 94. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel announced the news on Sunday but did not disclose the cause of death.

A veteran revolutionary and longtime government official, Valdes held the honorary titles "Hero of the Republic" and "Commander of the Revolution." He remained an influential member of Cuba's leadership for decades and served in several top government positions.
