India, March 26 -- Veteran Malayalam actor and director E. A. Rajendran passed away at 71 on Thursday at his residence in Pattathanam, Kollam, after a prolonged illness. The funeral will be held on Friday in his native place, Thrithallur, Thrissur. His demise marks the loss of a versatile artist who made significant contributions to Malayalam cinema, theatre, and television. Earlier concerns had arisen over his health after a frail appearance during the AMMA elections last year, but he and his wife clarified that his weight loss was due to medical advice for managing sugar levels.
