India, May 18 -- Ann Robinson, the red-haired actress famously known for being terrorised by Martian invaders in the 1953 sci-fi classic The War of the Worlds, has passed away at the age of 96. She was an American actress and stunt horse rider, best remembered for her leading role in The War of the Worlds and her appearance in the 1954 crime film Dragnet, where she played a Los Angeles police officer. According to her granddaughter, Tori Bravo, Robinson died on September 26 at her home in Los Angeles. Her death was not publicly announced until later.
