India, April 18 -- In a major escalation in the ongoing Middle East crisis, Iran's central military command has announced that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed again, citing the continuation of a United States naval blockade targeting Iranian ports. 

The decision comes just a day after Iran had signalled a reopening of the crucial maritime route, highlighting the rapidly shifting dynamics in the region. Officials said the move reflects a return to "strict management" of the strait until the blockade is lifted.
