India, July 13 -- Firefighters across the UK are battling 19 separate wildfires after weeks of hot, dry weather created ideal conditions for blazes to spread. Large parts of England and Wales have been left parched following consecutive June and July heatwaves, prompting emergency crews to tackle fires from North Wales to London and the South East coast.

Dave Swallow, wildfire tactical adviser for the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC), told Sky News that firefighters are facing difficult conditions because of strong winds and prolonged dry weather.
