India, Sept. 22 -- A former US State Department official, Evan A. Feigenbaum, has questioned Washington's approach of threatening tariffs of up to 100% on countries that continue buying Russian oil, highlighting President Donald Trump's proposal for the United States to purchase potash from Belarus, a close ally of Moscow. Feigenbaum's comments came after Trump said Washington was working on a "massive" deal to buy potash from Belarus at a price substantially lower than what the US currently pays Canada. Belarus has maintained close political and economic ties with Russia and has supported Moscow during the war in Ukraine.
