India, July 17 -- Toronto is experiencing very poor air quality as wildfire smoke drifting from northern Ontario has pushed the Air Quality Health Index into the 10+ (Very High Risk) category, according to Environment Canada. The advisory warns that smoke concentrations are elevated across the city and the Greater Toronto Area, reducing visibility and increasing health risks for residents. Officials say fine particulate matter (PM2.5) from active wildfires is the primary cause of the sharp deterioration in air quality.
