India, Sept. 28 -- Tamil Nadu Gold Ring Scheme 2026: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday, September 28, launched the state government's Thaai Maaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam, or Maternal Uncle Gold Ring Scheme, for eligible newborns at Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. Under the initiative, eligible babies born in government hospitals will receive a one-gram, 22-carat gold ring.

The launch event in Madurai included the presentation of gold rings to 25 newborns. The scheme has been made applicable retrospectively to eligible babies born from June 22, 2026.
