India, Aug. 21 -- Indian Stock Market Today, August 21, 2026: The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened higher for a second consecutive session on Friday, extending Thursday's recovery. The Sensex opened at 77,701.07, gaining 163.35 points or 0.21%, while the Nifty 50 opened at 24,284.05, up 52.20 points or 0.22%.

The positive opening followed Thursday's rebound, when the Nifty ended a seven-session losing streak by gaining 0.64%, while the Sensex rose 0.82%. However, Friday's gains were limited as elevated crude oil prices, higher global bond yields and Middle East tensions kept investors cautious.
