India, May 30 -- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is once again exploring the possibility of introducing polymer banknotes, reviving a proposal that has been discussed periodically over the past several years. Recent reports suggest the central bank has examined the idea amid rising currency demand and increasing costs associated with printing and replacing paper notes.

However, RBI has not announced any decision to replace existing paper currency, and there is currently no official timeline for the introduction of polymer notes.
