India, Aug. 16 -- Pathankot School Holiday Tomorrow: Students, parents and teachers across Punjab are checking whether schools will remain closed on Monday, August 17, 2026, following Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Several districts have announced holidays for schools after students and teachers participated in parades, cultural programmes and other activities linked to the national celebration.

However, the scope of the holiday differs from district to district. In some places, all schools have been included, while in others, the holiday applies only to schools that participated in Independence Day programmes.
