Nepal Floods Latest News: Death Toll Rises to 392, 1,468 Missing; 290 Indians Yet to Be Traced
India, Aug. 28 -- Rescue operations continued along the Nepal-Tibet border on Thursday after devastating flash floods and landslides left at least 392 people dead and 1,468 people unaccounted for on both sides of the border. Rescue teams are searching through thick mud and debris for survivors as authorities warn that another major flood could occur if debris-blocked rivers and lakes overflow.
The disaster has caused extensive destruction across Himalayan settlements, with powerful torrents of water, ice, mud and rocks sweeping away homes, bridges and roads. The affected region includes routes frequently used by trekkers and Hindu pilgrims travelling towards Tibet's sacred Mount Kailash.
