India, Oct. 11 -- A sudden flash flood in Nepal's Budhi Gandaki River swept away several houses in Gorkha district early on Sunday, October 11, prompting officials to issue safety warnings and urge residents living along the river to move to higher ground. According to Gorkha Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, initial information about the major flood was received at around 4:35 am. Five to seven houses situated in the riverbed at Jagat were reportedly swept away, while additional damage downstream was also feared. No deaths or injuries had been reported at the time of the initial updates.
