India, Aug. 14 -- Wall Street opened slightly higher on Friday as investors assessed fresh retail sales data, tracked developments in the Middle East and looked for clues about the Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook. The move came a day after the S&P 500 closed at a record high. At the opening bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.8 points, or 0.01%, to 53,842.8. The S&P 500 gained 7.6 points, or 0.10%, to 7,806.6, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 48.1 points, or 0.18%, to 26,851.148. Investors are also keeping a close watch on individual stocks, with Reddit emerging as one of the major movers after the social media company was selected for inclusion in the S&P 500.
