India, Sept. 4 -- The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its GSLV-F17 rocket carrying the 2,376-kg EOS-05 Earth Observation Satellite from Sriharikota at 2:55 am on September 4. The mission is significant for India's space programme as it comes at a time when the agency is working to restore confidence in its launch systems following recent PSLV setbacks.

Around 19 minutes after liftoff, at 3:14 am, GSLV-F17 successfully placed EOS-05 on its intended trajectory, giving ISRO a major reason to celebrate. The mission was also the 107th launch of a large rocket from Sriharikota, highlighting the growing importance of India's spaceport.
