India, Sept. 3 -- Hindus all over India are gearing up to observe the birth of Lord Krishna, which is among the most significant Hindu festivals. This year, the prime celebration of Janmashtami will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026. Nevertheless, the night celebration will spill into September 5, thereby leading to confusion as to whether the festival takes place on September 4 or 5. Such a confusion could be as a result of the difference between traditional calendars and the dates of observance by different Vaishnava sampradaya. To illustrate, according to Drik Panchang, the common date of celebrating Janmashtami is September 4 in New Delhi, although ISKCON will be celebrating the festival of Lord Krishna on September 5.
