India, Oct. 7 -- FTSE 100 index opened weakly on Wednesday, October 7, due to higher oil prices and concerns related to inflation and interest rates changes. At 8:45 am BST, FTSE 100 index fell by 0.5% to 10,493.04 while FTSE 250 index fell by 0.22% to 24,160.99.

The reason behind this is that the blue-chip index climbed by 0.42% to 10,541.69 points on Tuesday and thus sustained an upward trend for the last three trading days. This was due to lower oil prices and gilt yields.
