India, June 21 -- France placed 35 regions under its highest red heatwave alert on Sunday, while another 45 regions remained under orange alert, as authorities warned that temperatures could approach record highs in the coming days.

According to Meteo-France, temperatures in some parts of the country could reach 41 degrees Celsius on Sunday, with Monday expected to be even hotter. Officials said the national average temperature could match the highest daily temperature ever recorded in France, regardless of the season.
