India, June 17 -- Finland has approved new legislation that removes a long-standing ban on nuclear weapons, marking a significant shift in the country's defense policy amid growing security concerns related to Russia.

The newly passed law permits the import, transportation, supply, and possession of nuclear weapons within Finland for national defense purposes. The move comes as Finland continues to strengthen its security posture following its accession to NATO in April 2023. Despite the legal change, the Finnish government has stated that there are currently no plans to station nuclear weapons on Finnish territory.
