India, Nov. 2 -- The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced two new facilities aimed at making provident fund services more accessible and helping subscribers recover money lying in old, inactive accounts. The initiatives include a WhatsApp-based service to check PF balances and passbook details, along with automatic settlement of eligible inoperative EPF accounts carrying balances of up to Rs.1,000.

Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced the initiatives on November 1, 2026, during the EPFO's 74th Foundation Day celebrations at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
