Election Commission Removes SIR Declaration From Form 6: Why Was It Removed and What Does It Mean for Voters?
India, Oct. 1 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) has deleted the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Additional Declaration from Form 6, which is an online form used for the purpose of voter registration in states/union territories where the SIR process has been completed.
This deletion has been done on the basis of the decision taken by the Election Commission on September 26, 2026, that the statutory Form 6 as provided under the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 would be used during the non-SIR period. This deletion was done on the ECINET portal/website on September 30, 2026.
