India, Oct. 20 -- An individual named Brendan Nugent, a 43-year-old man believed to have assaulted independent Australian Member of Parliament, Helen Haines, by driving a vehicle into her at her electorate office, has now been charged with several offences following the reported attack in Wangaratta, Victoria.

The Victoria Police charged Nugent, who comes from Tarrawingee, late Tuesday afternoon. He has been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, causing serious injury intentionally and causing harm to a Commonwealth public official. He is due in court tomorrow.
