India, April 1 -- In a historic moment at the US Supreme Court, President Donald Trump attended oral arguments on Wednesday in a major case challenging the scope of birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to be present during arguments before the nation's highest court.

The administration is seeking to defend a Day One executive order that would reinterpret the amendment to end automatic citizenship for children born in the United States to undocumented immigrants. The policy would require parents to demonstrate their own legal immigration status before citizenship is granted to their newborn children.
