India, June 4 -- Alan Brazil, a 66-year-old TalkSPORT breakfast host and former football star for Scotland and Ipswich, said he's lucky to be alive after a life-saving liver transplant. In Cambridge, no less. Alan explained on his radio show that he worked right up until the morning of his surgery, then went straight to the hospital. His operation happened later that same day and took about eight hours.

Alan's heart even stopped briefly during the procedure, but the doctors got it going again. Despite still being in recovery, he was back at TalkSPORT just a few days later, ready to chat about his ordeal with his co-hosts. On Thursday, he made it clear he's still recovering but is grateful to be doing okay.
