India, Oct. 29 -- Ahoi Ashtami 2026 will be observed on Sunday, November 1. The Hindu festival is traditionally dedicated to Ahoi Mata, and mothers observe a fast and offer prayers for the health, happiness and well-being of their children. The festival is observed during the Krishna Paksha Ashtami, or the eighth day of the waning lunar phase, in the Hindu month of Kartik.

The main rituals generally take place in the evening. Devotees worship Ahoi Mata, listen to or recite the Ahoi Ashtami Vrat Katha and, in many traditions, conclude the fast after sighting the stars. Rituals and fasting practices may vary among families and regions.
