India, Nov. 4 -- 8th Pay Commission Latest News: There is a renewed call by central government pensioners and employee associations for reduction in the number of years for which restoration of commutation of pension can be done according to the 8th Pay Commission. Certain associations have made representations before the commission and asked them to look into the present policy and reduce the restoration from 15 years to 10, 11 or 12 years.

The above demand has come in light of recent high court decisions upholding the existing policy on the issue. However, the organizations of the pensioners are demanding the government to examine if the existing practice is still financially justifiable in the present scenario.
