Nigeria, May 26 -- According to a press release issued by the command, the operation was launched on 25th May 2026 after a distress call from local hunters who came under gunfire attack while on a hunting expedition in Otu. No hunter was killed in the initial attack.

Responding swiftly, a joint team of police operatives, local hunters, and other security agencies moved to the scene. The suspects opened fire on arrival, leading to a gun duel.
