Parliamentary panel reviews security, development in J&K
India, June 24 -- A Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, led by MP Dr Shashi Tharoor, is on a four-day study visit to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to review border security, foreign policy concerns and development in frontier regions.
On Tuesday, the 13-member panel met Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Srinagar, where it was briefed on its earlier visits to border areas in Jammu, the Regional Passport Office, and interactions with Army officials. The LG highlighted socio-economic changes in the region over the past six years, noting improvements in security and infrastructure development.
