India, June 27 -- Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General N.S. Raja Subramani began his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since assuming office, reviewing the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu region.

The CDS visited the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur and the XVI Corps headquarters in Nagrota before undertaking an aerial and ground review of forward areas in Rajouri and Poonch districts. He was briefed by senior Army commanders on the security scenario, anti-infiltration measures, counter-terrorism operations and preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra beginning July 3.
