Srilanka, March 29 -- Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said on Friday that a series of structural reforms had been introduced in the Police Department, alongside efforts to strengthen human resource development.

He said Financial Crime Divisions and Central Crime Investigation Units had been set up across all provinces to enhance investigative capacity. Salaries of police officers had also been increased, while long-delayed promotions had been granted.

The Minister said a separate salary increment for police officers would be implemented soon based on a Cabinet paper.
