On one hand, several smaller or resource-rich countries such as Qatar and United Arab Emirates recorded the fastest growth rates in percentage terms, reflecting rapid urbanization, migration, and economic expansion.
On the other hand, the largest absolute increases are concentrated in populous nations like India, China, and Nigeria, where even moderate growth rates translate into tens or hundreds of millions of additional people.
