Hanoi, March 17 -- Under the strategy, the Government targets to complete the construction of the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plants in the central province of Khanh Hoa by 2035,

The Government also plans to deploy at least one Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project by 2035.

By 2050, nuclear power is expected to account for 6-8 percent of national electricity output.

The strategy also places a heavy emphasis on medical and industrial applications of radiation and radioisotopes. Over the next decade, Viet Nam targets a medical radiation infrastructure equivalent to advanced ASEAN nations, aiming for 20 CT scanners, 10 MRI machines, and 1 to 2 linear accelerators per million people.
