Jakarta, Oct. 23 -- Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, on 23 October 2026, met with the President of the University of Tokyo, Prof. Dr. Teruo Fujii, in Tokyo, Japan, to discuss opportunities to strengthen ASEAN-Japan academic cooperation. The discussion highlighted the importance of research collaboration, academic mobility and partnerships involving universities across ASEAN, in line with the ASEAN Work Plan on Education 2026-2030. The meeting also exchanged views on the impact of the digital transformation on the next generation of researchers and the wider society, among others.
