Hanoi, Aug. 25 -- With this decision, Viet Nam now has nine centrally-governed cities: Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Can Tho, Hue, Dong Nai, Quang Ninh, and Bac Ninh.

Quang Ninh City covers an area of 6,231 sq km and has a population of 1.52 million, comprising 30 wards, 22 communes and two special administrative zones.

In 2025, the city's GRDP growth reached 11.89 percent, the highest in the country. The province's economy was valued at VND368.445 trillion, while GRDP per capita was estimated at US$10,402.

Meanwhile, Bac Ninh City borders covers 4,713 sq km and has a population of 3.99 million, comprising 45 wards and 54 communes.
