India, March 20 -- Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said India's power sector is entering a new phase driven by innovation, affordability, and global collaboration, underscoring the country's rapid transformation in the energy landscape.
Speaking at the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, the minister noted that India has already achieved 50 per cent cumulative non-fossil fuel-based electricity capacity ahead of schedule, marking a significant milestone in its clean energy transition.
He highlighted key policy initiatives such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and SHANTI Act 2025, which have accelerated renewable energy adoption and strengthened the sector's sustainability framework.
