India, April 1 -- India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose 8.8% year-on-year to 2,00,064 crore in March 2026, supported by steady domestic revenues and a sharp rise in import-related collections, according to official data.
Growth during the month was led by a 17.8% increase in revenues from imports, while domestic collections recorded a moderate 5.9% rise, indicating sustained consumption trends amid global uncertainties.
On a net basis, after adjusting for refunds, GST collections grew 8.2% to 1,77,990 crore. Refunds during the month increased 13.8% to 22,074 crore, with domestic refunds surging over 31%, reflecting improved compliance and faster processing.
