India, April 28 -- The Centre has said there is no immediate proposal to increase retail fuel prices, seeking to ease concerns over volatility in global energy markets due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
At a briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said petrol and diesel prices will remain unchanged for now, while the government continues to closely monitor the evolving situation.
She assured that supplies of LPG, petrol, and diesel are sufficient across the country, urging consumers not to panic. While acknowledging disruptions in imports of crude oil, LPG, and piped natural gas (PNG), Sharma said contingency measures have ensured minimal impact on domestic availability.
