India, March 30 -- Coal India Limited (CIL) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited to develop a 750 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Choutuppal, marking a strategic push into the energy transition segment.
The project, with a capacity of 187.5 MW for four hours, entails an investment of 1,057.09 crore and is expected to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA).
Under the agreement, CIL will supply power at a tariff of 3.14 lakh per MW per month. The company is required to submit performance bank guarantees and complete formalities within 15 days before execution of the final agreement.
