Nigeria, Aug. 7 -- When the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games ended, the spotlight naturally fell on Nigeria's medal winners.

The country finished seventh overall with 24 medals comprising of 10 gold, seven silver and seven bronze which made Team Nigeria emerge as Africa's highest-ranked nation. Athletes like Samuel Ogazi, Ezekiel Nathaniel, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, Folashade Oluwafemiayo and Goodness Nwachukwu deserved every celebration they received.

But beyond the podium, another group of athletes quietly made a strong statement.
