Manila, Sept. 22 -- Malacanang on Tuesday backed the Office of the Ombudsman's investigation into the alleged "ghost internet" scheme involving government information technology (IT) projects, saying any anomalous transaction involving government-funded projects must be thoroughly investigated.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the government must ensure that public funds translate into the services promised to Filipinos.

"Sa lahat ng maanomalya na transaksiyon na kinapapalooban ng mga public officials ay dapat lamang itong maimbestigahan (All anomalous transactions involving public officials should be investigated)," Castro said in a Palace briefing.
