Manila, July 8 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday urged government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) to uphold fiscal discipline and prudent stewardship after they remitted PHP140 billion in dividends to the national government, saying the funds will help finance essential public services without imposing new taxes on Filipinos.

Speaking during the 2026 GOCC Day in Malacanang, Marcos said the dividend remittances show that sound governance and responsible management of state-owned firms directly benefit the public.

"Every peso that you have remitted strengthens the government's capacity to deliver better services without imposing additional tax burdens on ordinary Filipinos," Marcos said.
