Marcos orders stronger Navy, deeper alliances amid WPS challenges
Manila, June 9 -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday directed the Philippine Navy (PN) to further strengthen its capabilities and deepen defense partnerships as the country confronts evolving security challenges and seeks to protect its interests in the West Philippine Sea.
Speaking during the 128th anniversary celebration of the Philippine Navy, Marcos underscored the critical role of maritime defense in safeguarding the country's sovereignty, economic lifelines, and regional stability.
"Strengthening the Philippine Navy's capabilities remains essential to protecting our interests in the West Philippine Sea in light of the broader realities of our time," Marcos said.
