Imphal, Sept. 18 -- The Manipur Police Anti-Extortion Unit, jointly with the Imphal West district commando unit, arrested a serving Manipur Rifles Havildar and two suspected extortionists on Thursday in connection with alleged extortion activities in the Singjamei Wangma area.

According to a police statement issued on Friday, the arrests followed targeted raids at the suspects' residences based on intelligence inputs about ongoing extortion in the area. A firearm and live ammunition were also recovered during the operation.

The arrested personnel was identified as 44-year-old Waikhom Amarjit Singh, a Havildar attached to the 1st Manipur Rifles. Police recovered a 9 mm service pistol, a magazine and four live rounds from his possession....
